Willmott Dixon stays strong after Inspace demerger

Thanks to a 50m expansion in its core businesses of construction and housebuilding, Willmott Dixon has emerged from the demerger of Inspace, its former division, with a similar turnover to last year.

Willmott Dixon's half year results (six months to 30 June 2005) show turnover at 190m, an identical figure to the same period in 2004. Pre-tax profit inched ahead to 3.6m, up from 3.5m.

Chief executive Rick Willmott said: "To have filled the void left by the Inspace demerger and subsequent flotation underscores the company's strength and shows a period of organic growth."

At the equivalent stage last year, Inspace, a social housing maintenance service provider, had contributed 1.9m in profit and 49m in turnover to the group figures.
