Totty wins £11.2m accommodation blocks contract

Totty Construction has secured its single largest project to date with the National Offender Management Service (NOMS), with an £11.2m scheme to upgrade accommodation blocks at HMP YOI Hindley, near Wigan.

The project has been awarded by NOMS as part of a
seven-year partnering framework deal with Totty to encompass refurbishment, alteration, extension, planned maintenance and minor works projects for the Service's North-West region.

Totty Construction will strip out and refurbish four four-storey accommodation blocks at Hindley in a phased project, with each block being re-roofed and with all M&E services replaced throughout.

The scheme encompasses refurbishment across a total of 256 cells - 32 of which will be converted to Safer Cells (anti self-harm cells), in addition to communal recreational areas and the upgrade of all shower facilities.
