Morgan Sindall wins £60m cable tunnel deal

Morgan Est, the infrastructure services division of Morgan Sindall, has signed a
£60m contract with National Grid for the design, build and commission of a new 10km cable tunnel in the London Boroughs of Sutton and Bromley.

The tunnel between Beddington and Rowdown has a diameter of 3m and is to house a 400kV cable which will replace old cables. The use of a tunnel will minimise street work and
disruption to local residents.

It is expected that the work will commence no earlier than August 2006 with the design work starting immediately. The project is due to be completed in January 2011.
