Durkan buys Woolwich MoD site

Durkan has bought the 8.5ha Royal Military Academy Woolwich site in south-east London from Defence Estates for £15m.

Durkan New Homes intends to convert the majority of the existing Grade II listed buildings to provide high quality residential units with further new build units to the rear of the site.

An outline development brief has been agreed in consultation with the local authority.

Durkan has also secured a £5m contract with the London Borough of Camden for the refurbishment of the 160-home Ingestre Road Estate.

Work starts later this month, with completion expected in March 2007.
