The first part of a revised code of practice for the safe use of cranes, BS7121-1:2006, will be published by BSI on 1 March.
Contained in this first volume is general information covering safe systems of work, management, selection of equipment and planning.
Also included is information on erection and dismantling, inspection and testing, maintenance and operation of cranes, and the planning and management of lifting operations.
The new edition supersedes the 1989 version (which is being withdrawn) and costs £140 (£70 for subscribing members).
BSI said the remaining 13 parts of BS7121 are being revised and will be published in due course.
