US offsite firm Champion Enterprises this week said it will export steel frame building technology across the Atlantic when it bought UK-based Calsafe Group for £62.6m.
The company said it is interested in an exchange of information between its US business and
Calsafe subsidiary Caledonian Building Systems.
Caledonian has three factories in Newark and makes steel frame modular buildings for the Ministry of Defence, as well as prisons, hotels and apartments. The company last year had a turnover of £85.4m.
Champion said it will grow the business in both the UK and US. The company added that Caledonian’s steel frame modular technology has a “key advantage” over its core US wood-framed construction.
