Aggregate Industries goes green on stone

Aggregate Industries (AI) used Ecobuild to improve its green credentials with the launch of a range of recycled stone, Enviromasonry.

A spokesman for AI subsidiary Fyfestone said the product is aimed at commercial buildings, schools and hospitals. It can be used on external, internal and partition walls.

The spokesman said the product has gained an ‘A’ rating from the Building Research Establishment’s (BRE) Green Guide to Specification.

He added: “In order to get BRE whole-life costing, we looked at subjects like weathering and how much power we used to produce it.”

Enviromasonry incorporates secondary aggregate and blast furnace slag as a cement replacement.
