Crest Nicholson wins Woolston Riverside regen

Crest Nicholson has been named preferred bidder for the £250m regeneration of Woolston Riverside in Southampton.

The firm beat Barratt Homes, Berkeley Homes (Southern), Wimpey and Taylor Woodrow Developments to the South East England Development Agency 12.5ha mixed-use scheme.

Preparation works on the former shipyard site are expected to start in spring 2007. Work on the first residential units is expected to start in summer 2007 with an overall eight-year development programme. Approximately 1,500 homes will be built in total.
