Ford has revamped its Ranger pick-ups with a new interior, more power and a higher towing capacity.
Externally, the Ranger gets a new grille and front bumper, with most models receiving 16-inch wheels. However, the biggest changes lie beneath the revised bonnet, where a 2.5-litre common-rail diesel engine takes the power up from 81kW to almost 107kW, and torque up one third to 330Nm.
Variable turbocharger geometry widens the torque curve and reduces turbo lag. This combines with a redesigned cooling package to reduce overall noise levels.
Load-area sidewall height has been increased by 60mm, the tie-down eyes are now set lower and the towing capacity has been raised to 3t.
Inside the cab there are new seats and headrests, an angular centre console and a pull-out document tray in the instrument panel.
■ The tipper version of the Ranger is now on sale for an on-the-road price of £16,800.
