All hope has now gone for contractors hoping to make the cut for a delayed £23.5m PFI hospital deal in Yorkshire.
The Selby War Memorial Hospital project first came up for grabs two years ago, but has been plagued by serious financial problems.
Gleeson, Amec and Galliford Try were among the firms hoping for a slice of the action, but the scheme has now been axed.
An insider said: “The Selby and York Primary Care Trust went from being a three-star organisation to a one-star.
“The entire PFI project team has now been broken up and it will be years before the Trust gets into a position where it can promote another hospital scheme.”
