Report argues high speed rail links better than third runway at Heathrow

The planned third runway at Heathrow would be unnecessary if high speed rail links to Europe and the North were introduced, according to a report published today by Transport 2000. The report, titled Fog on the Runway, argues that high speed rail could meet increasing travel demands in the UK with lower environmental impact and greater efficiency than an increase in capacity at Heathrow.
