£12m of Thames Gateway funding will be given to the Rushenden Relief Road project in Kent, according to an announcement made today (Tuesday) by Angela Smith, minister for the Department for Communities and Local Government.
The planned relief road will link to the new Swale Crossing and the scheme should also create over 2,000 new homes and 90,000 square feet of commercial space.
Angela Smith said the £12m contribution was intended to kick-start regeneration in the area: "The Relief Road will be the final catalyst to open up development opportunities on the Isle of Sheppey."
