Balfour and Morgan Est land £420m gas contract

A consortium of Balfour Beatty and Morgan Est has been named preferred bidder for a seven-year, £420m gas mains replacement contract for Northern Gas Networks.

The contract, which has the potential for a five-year extension worth an extra £300m, will involve mains replacement, diversions, reinforcements and connections in the Northern region of the country.

Around 500km of pipes will be replaced each year and work is due to start next month.
