Interserve has been named preferred bidder by Plymouth City Council for its £30m schools PFI scheme.
The scheme entails the construction and ongoing maintenance of a new primary school for 450 pupils and an 'all-through' school for 1,480 pupils. The latter brings together an early years, primary, secondary and specialist school on a single campus.
Interserve is responsible for the design and construction of the schools and for providing FM through the 25-year operational phase. Barclay's Private Equity is the financial partner.
Interserve beat Mowlem to the deal. King Sturge also showed an interest, but pulled out early on.
