Hyder Consulting announces £8m pre-tax profit


Hyder, the design and management consultancy, has almost trebled its pre-tax profit to £8.3m after what its chairman Sir Alan Thomas described as “an excellent year”.

 

Air Alan added: “We have improved our profit margin while continuing to build the orderbook. The results are ahead of market expectations.”

 

Latest annual results (12 months to 31 March 2006) show turnover stepping forward to £170m (2004: £140m). Last year’s pre-tax profit ran to £2.6m.

 

Hyder operates globally through three divisions.

 

The UK/Europe division showed the biggest upsurge in operating profit to £6.5m (2004: £4.1m). Its biggest single project has been the preparation work for the £4.5bn M25 DBFO scheme. Hyder is being asked to provide highway engineering and traffic management technology inputs.

Workload in the Middle East almost doubled to £35m with operating profit higher at £1.8m (2004 figure: £1.6m). In Dubai, the construction of the Burj Dubai, the world’s largest building, is progressing at the rate of one floor per week. Hyder is the supervising consultant.
