The specialist piling division of Dew Construction has been acquired by Lagan, giving the Belfast-based group a foothold in the UK piling market.
Dew Piling, which will retain its trading name, operates from Oldham and utilises both conventional and silent piling equipment techniques, including permanent and temporary sheet and web piles, tension piles, wailings and ties
Lagan runs FK Lowry Piling, which operates in the Irish piling sector. Lagan will now assist Dew Piling to target non-driven piling projects in the UK.
Lagan bought the assets and stock of Dew Piling from the receivers of Dew Pitchmastic, its parent, which crashed a fortnight ago. The move saves 25 jobs.
In a second deal, DCT Civil Engineering has bought two other elements of Dew Construction, namely the frameworks and regions divisions. In a statement it said it will be known as Dew Construction, operating from the current offices.
DCT’s latest annual turnover was £25m. It undertakes projects up to a value of £9m.
DCT’s three business streams are: waste and wastewater; civil engineering; and tunnelling.
