Olympic Delivery Authority (ODA) chief executive, David Higgins, announced ten key milestones in the timetable for delivering the infrastructure for the 2012 Olympic Games to the London Assembly today.
The milestones are as follows:
- Announcement of timetable, including start and finish dates for venues (July).
- Publication of procurement strategy for consultation (July).
- Appointment of full ODA executive team (by July).
- Conclusion of CPO Inquiry hearings into land acquisitions for the Olympic Park.
- Official announcement of the two key remediation and demolition contractors on 15 June – CJ expects to receive confirmation that Morrison and Nuttall have won the remediation contract, as reported online yesterday.
- Appointment of the Delivery Partner who will manage the programme for construction and infrastructure work on the Olympic Park – this is the largest single contract to be awarded this year (August).
- First phase of community engagement work in East London.
- Publication of Transport Plan for consultation (September).
- Start of procurement process for Stadium (summer).
- New Olympic Park planning application to be submitted (January 2007).
Speaking of the delivery timetable, Higgins said: “In the first six months we have hit our major milestones. It is essential that we maintain this momentum and continue to plan for success. With the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games there can be no Plan B.”
