JCB plans to break into EU demolition market


JCB is to use it new 21m JS330 HRD high-reach demolition rig with modular boom to spearhead a push into the European demolition equipment market.

Speaking at the company’s first Demolition Day at its Rocester headquarters, Ken Bainbridge, JCB’s UK and European sales director for the waste, recycling and demolition industry, said the company is already the biggest supplier to the European waste and recycling market and wanted to be so in the demolition market.

The event was supported by the National Federation of Demolition Contractors, and attended by delegates from
across the EU.

JCB sees service back-up as a key element in the demolition market, where a broken-down machine can leave a building in

a perilous condition.

Service director Steve Fox said users should expect a technician on site within four hours of a call, and added that 80% of machines were repaired on the first visit.

The company offers a variety of machines modified for demolition including wheeled and tracked excavators, ADTs, skid-steer loaders, wheel loaders and telehandlers.

The modifications include undercover plates, turret and track motor guards, FOPS cab guards and additional cyclonic engine pre-filtration.
