Sunderland school children will be able to visit a mock construction site throughout this fortnight as part of an annual accident-prevention initiative in the area.
The ‘Zone Ranger Challenge’ is supported by local companies including Bryant Homes, Lord Hire and Sunderland Scaffolding, together with the Heath & Safety Executive (HSE).
Mr Bill McKay, a Principal Inspector for the HSE’s Construction Division in the North East said the event was “designed to show the most common dangers that can be found on a building site – electricity, chemicals, ladders, scaffolding, pipes and piles of building materials.”
The Challenge event is timed to coincide with Child Safety Week.
