The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has launched a code of practice for partnering.
The book explains how clients and construction firms using partnering can achieve ever higher levels of efficiency and certainty to provide world class buildings and infrastructure of all kinds.
Detailed guidance about the actions that clients and professionals new to partnering need to take is given followed by advice about the actions individual firms can take to get the maximum benefits from partnering. The book also describes how highly developed forms of partnering are developing into strategic collaborative working that turns construction into a "genuinely modern industry able to meet all customers’ needs".
Chris Blythe, CIOB chief executive, said: "The new partnering code of practice is a practical guide to enable firms to improve their joint performance through adopting partnering. This report captures the essence of partnering and how it can enable the industry to focus on improving their joint performance whilst providing more certainty in the construction process in terms of cost, time and quality.
“The CIOB strongly recommends this valuable publication and advises the industry to adopt the processes outlined in the code of practice for the benefit of all involved in the construction process."
Partnering in the Construction Industry is published by Elsevier and endorsed by the Royal Institute of British Architects, Institution of Civil Engineers, Chartered Institute of Housing, The Housing Forum and Constructing Excellence in the Built Environment.
