Amec NNC ranks second in online health and safety index


Amec NNC, Amec's nuclear arm, has ranked at second place in the current all industries Corporate Health and Safety Performance Index (CHaSPI) listings.

CHaSPI is a web-based service from the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), which large companies can use on a voluntary basis to track their health and safety performance.

Amec’s score was the highest of any listed organisation within the construction sector, at 8.8.

The Amec division and two other construction companies, SDC Builders and McCarthy and Stone Developments, received awards from health and safety minister Lord Hunt for being among the first 25 firms to register with the service.

All three companies within the sector ranked above the mean score of 6.2, with SDC scoring 7.5 and McCarthy scoring 6.6. The lowest ranked organisation scored only 3.0

The index rates companies based on a number of indicators, using information provided via an online questionnaire. Results are made publicly available to encourage increased accountability.
