The London Borough of Islington has announced the long-list of seven consortia for its £130m Building Schools for the Future programme.

The five-year programme will see the substantial rebuilding and refurbishment of eight of the council’s secondary schools.

The chosen consortia, which will eventually be whittled down to a short-list of three are: Amey; Bouygues Partnership for Education and Community (BouyguesUK and Ecovert FM); @ One (Equion); Bespoke Environments for Islington (Bilfinger Berger Bot); Investors in the Community (Carillion); Transform Schools (Balfour Beatty); and Vinci Investment.

The programme will be delivered in phases, and work on the first phase is due to start next autumn.

Highbury Grove, Holloway and St Aloysius R.C. schools have been identified as the first three schools to benefit from the programme.
