Timber products from legal and sustainable sources are now available from a further 29 Build Center stores.
This expansion follows the award of FSC (Forestry Stewardship Council) and PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) chain-of-custody certification after an audit by BM Trada.
This takes the total of Build Center branches with chain-of-custody certification to 61 out of a total of more than 230. The company aims to have the whole Build Center timber network certified by 2008.
The certification schemes cover softwood, plywood and panel products, as well as engineered wood products, including I-beams. Kitchen, bathroom and garden products are also included.
Parent company Wolseley's national chain-of-custody co-ordinator Jermain Cheetham said: "This programme is essential to satisfy the environmental requirements of Build Center's customers, and is a key part of Wolseley's drive to promote the use of more sustainable construction."
