In brief


North Midland Construction has sealed two power station contracts worth £20m in total. The first is at Ferrybridge, between Leeds and Hull, and the second is at Fiddler's Ferry in Widnes, Cheshire.

Ashford Construction has sealed an £8.5m contract from Gallan Residential to carry out major redevelopment works on its Arcadian entertainment complex in Birmingham.

Allenbuild has won two transport contracts worth a total of £7.1m. They are the construction of a new bus depot in Leicester and a new 333-space car park in Grantham.

Morrison Construction has secured a £5.2m contract from pipeline company Qserv to construct a high-specification office building and separate workshop in Aberdeen. Work on the project is due to complete early next year.

Developer Mersey Property Company has submitted plans for a new mixed-use tower at Princes Dock in central Liverpool. The 36-storey scheme will include a 135-bedroom hotel, 183 flats and 330 parking spaces.

Faithful & Gould has sealed a framework agreement for capital development in the mental healthcare sector of the capital planning unit of Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust. The contract is for project management, quantity surveying and planning supervisor services.

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering (ACE) has created a new group for the private building sector. The ACE Private Building Sector Interest Group will set an agenda to deal with key issues and maintain a dialogue with major clients.

The highways and transportation team of Atkins has secured a three-year framework agreement with Ceredigion County Council. Work will include local highways, bridge schemes, bridge assessments and traffic and flood studies.

The National Construction College has introduced two new crane courses to its range of training. The courses are Pedestrian Operated Tower Crane and Crane Supervisor.
