Four outfits will price a deal valued at between £150m and £180m on London's Docklands Light Railway.
Nuttall, Costain, Taylor Woodrow and a Balfour Beatty/Amec JVjv have coupled up to the Three-Car Capacity Enhancement Project.
The design and construct project includes strengthening bridges and viaducts, extending platforms, building a new station, and remodelling two railway junctions.
Bids are due back in October, with an award expected early next year and work oin site expected to kick off shortly afterwards.
