The Chartered Institute of Building has been granted a licence by the Society for the Environment to award Chartered Environmentalist status to its members.
Hall Construction Services has won two contracts worth more than £11m. One contract is for new infrastructure at the Hatfield Colliery in Doncaster for Powerfuel. The second is for building and civils work for Bulkhaul at the Riverside Industrial Park in Middlesbrough.
Hammerson's plan for a £500m retail centre in Sheffield has been given the green light by the city council. The scheme will include residential apartments, a health club and other leisure facilities.

Birse Civils has been awarded a £5.4m contract for the final phase of the Rugeley Eastern bypass by Staffordshire County Council. Work will include the construction of two river bridges, a canal bridge and embankments.
Balfour Kilpatrick has sealed a series of contracts worth £11m in total. These include a £4m M&E contract for the new Gateshead College and a £2.5m contract to provide M&E services to the No.4 Atlantic Quay development in Glasgow.
