Network Rail awards contracts worth £17m to Harsco Track Technologies

Network Rail has awarded £17m worth of operation and maintenance contracts to Harsco Track Technologies.

The contracts cover the operation and maintenance of five switch and crossing railgrinder machines, and the maintenance of a fleet of 18 plainline stoneblowers. The equipment is used to keep the rails in good condition and alignment in order to ensure safe and smooth journeys for passengers.

Network Rail hopes that the two-and-a-half-year contracts will deliver cost savings of at least 10% in the first year.
