The construction industry's 14 most prestigious awards were presented on the night of 5 October 2006 in front of more than 1,000 industry executives, recognising and celebrating the achievements of the industry.

It’s was top evening of networking and fun – perfect for entertaining key clients and for recognising key staff in the business with a great night out with the team. Comedian and TV star Bill Bailey kept the audience entertained with his stand up routine, complete with comic musical interludes.

This year’s Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards attracted more entries than ever before, proving that more companies in construction are keen to prove that they are the best. After a preliminary judging round, 66 of those entries made it on to the shortlist (shown below), and stood a chance of winning one of the most prestigious awards in the construction industry.

There were 14 categories again in this year’s CJ Awards, with two new Awards – Major Contractor of the Year and Regional Contractor of the Year. The number of finalists in each category varies, reflecting the overall number of entries in that section and the closeness of judges’ marking among the main contenders.

Well done to all the shortlisted firms – and congratulations to the winners of this year's Contract Journal Construction Industry Awards.
