The National Federation of Demolition Contractors (NFDC) has launched guidance notes on the use of high-reach demolition rigs, in a move to promote best practice. Launched at its convention in Barcelona last weekend, the guide is intended to assist users to produce a full working method statement, and to help promote safety.
The NFDC stressed that it aims to achieve safe operation without unnecessary, excessive or prohibitive expenditure.
“As these machines grow in size and their use becomes more widespread, we have initiated a drive to improve practices related to the use of high- and ultra-high reach excavators,” said the NFDC.
The report’s author, Mark Anthony, said that the body would be encouraging its members to give customers and clients copies of the guide to help ensure safe working.
Copies of High Reach Demolition Rig Guidance Notes can be obtained from the NFDC (01784 456799).
