T Clarke, the electrical specialist contractor, has announced redundancies because of slippages in the start dates on various major commercial property projects it has in London.

When asked how many jobs are going, a spokesman said: "It’s in the tens and the total is less than 50. Yes, the sector is booming, and yes, there is a lot of work about. T Clarke’s name is there on the ticket, it’s just that their part of the work’s start date has slipped."

To keep the numbers involved in perspective, he commented that Clarke’s staff and employees number 1,600 in total.

The group’s training programme is not affected. Clarke will take on 65 new apprentices this year as planned. Currently, it has 106 apprentices in various stages of their training in London and 323 nationally.
