The Ministry of Defence has called up a consortium featuring Laing O’Rourke and Interserve for a £180m PFI deal in Wiltshire.
The Inteq group will tackle what is being billed as "a communication centre of excellence" on a 26ha site at Basil Hill, Corsham.
The consortium will work with Defence Estates on a scheme capable of supporting an estimated 2,000 people as the Defence Communication Services Agency rationalises its estate.
The flagship project will include offices and single living accommodation, with Interserve providing facilities management services over the 25-year period of the concession.
Financial close is expected late next year, with construction work scheduled for completion in 2010.
John Laing and Interserve will each have a 50% stake in the project.
