Local firm wins Notts gallery job

It is a case of local firms for local jobs as far as a £13m art gallery contract in Nottingham is concerned.

Nottingham firm Sol Construction is in the frame for the city council’s Centre for Contemporary Art deal after painting out bids from rivals Banner, Galliford Try and Kier-owned Marriott.

The 3,000m2 project will also feature live performance space, a bar and restaurant.

Enabling works are already under way, with the main works expected to start soonlater this month.

Completion is scheduled for the first quarter of 2008.
