Two firms have gone head to head in the contest to chalk up a re-jigged PPP schools deal for West Lothian Council.
Robertson and a Hochtief/Dawn Construction joint venture have locked horns for the scheme, worth around £50m, now that the client has expelled a pitch from third bidder Miller.
It is expected that the council will decide between the two contractors early next year.
The original deal, worth about £70m, featured five schools and was won by an AWG-led consortium in 2004.
But after months of deliberation, the council decided it could not get best value from the original deal.
The project now features just two new-build schools to replace the Armadale Academy and the Deans Community High School.
