Sources say that the client is now only talking to a Sir Robert McAlpine/Ryhurst pairing for a £25m PFI deal to build a 32-bed community hospital at Redcar, Teesside, after a best and final offer shoot-out. This looks like curtains for Clugston, the only other contender for the Langbaurgh Primary Care Trust scheme.
A pitch from Carillion, a third challenger, was placed on the casualty list earlier this year. Work is expected to start on site early next year.
