Site contamination issues not to blame for Lemley departure

Higgins denied that the departure of former Olympic Delivery Authority chairman Jack Lemley had been triggered by concerns over site contamination.

"He was at the presentations and he asked questions. His issues were valid and we never underestimated what he said." But he did not feel the concerns were big enough to trigger Lemley's departure.

"I am not trying to contradict Jack," said Higgins. " We are all anxious about remediation. No-one is complacent about the work involved. If we could have started a year ago on it, we would have done."
