Mastenbroek claims trenching first

UK trencher manufacturer Mastenbroek has introduced what it claims is a new concept in trenching machines, breaking the relationship between the size of a trench and the weight of the machine required to create it.

The HRT series (Hard Rock Trencher) has a different geometry that works by doing the trenching at the front of the machine, rather than with the attachment trailing behind it.

The result, Mastenbroek claims, is that the weight of the machine is no longer so important, allowing smaller more economical machines to do the same job.

The first of the manufacturer's new models, the HRT-25, produces trenches 2.5m deep and 0.65m wide using a lightweight (232kg) Hagglunds Compact motor - a considerable saving on the previous motor, which weighed around 790kg.
