Site dumper manufacturer Barford is set to launch a 1.2t hi-lift machine and introduce a cab for its 9t and 10t machines.
Barford's managing director Niall Wordsworth said he was unimpressed with the previous 1t machine and dropped it because it was a 'brand damager'. One tonne machines account for about a quarter of the UK market and Wordsworth has a target of producing 250 of the new units in 2007.
Production of 2t to 10t machines at the Grantham factory is expected to be just short of 2,000 units this year. Having strengthened its UK distribution network, Wordsworth said Barford now accounts for 30% of the domestic 2t to 10t market.
Next year will also see the 10t swivel skip (previewed at SED 2006) in production, plus the launch of a cab option for both 9t and 10t machines.
