The Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association (HVCA) has signed up to the Construction Commitments charter.
The charter, developed by the Strategic Forum for Construction in relation to the 2012 Olympic Games, identifies six elements seen as vital for the safe, on-time and on-budget delivery of the Games facilituies: procurement and integration; commitment to people; client leadership, sustainability; design quality; and health and safety.
HVCA chief executive Robert Higgs said the Games offers the UK construction industry the opportunity to highlight its "very best elements - in particular by undertaking sustainable, energy-efficient projects that will provide long-term benefits for local communities and the nation as a whole".
Members of the HVCA/Electrical Contractors Association Joint Major Contractors' Group, which comprises the UK's largest M&E services contractors - has also signed up to the charter.
