Galliford Try has been selected by national regeneration agency English Partnerships (EP) as its preferred development partner to regenerate the former Turner Village hospital site in Colchester, Essex.
This is the second major project awarded to the contractor by EP this year.
The scheme will provide 430 new homes, of which 107 will be affordable. The homes will be built to an Eco Homes rating of ‘excellent’.
Construction works are expected to commence in late summer 2007.
Greg Fitzgerald, chief executive of Galliford Try, said: "This award underlines Galliford Try’s strengths in the regeneration and affordable housing sectors, which continue to provide good opportunities for growth."
