The HVCA (Heating and Ventilating Contractors' Association) has announced that it signed up to the 2012 Construction Commitments charter before Christmas.
HVCA chief executive Robert Higgs said the Olympic Games offered a unique opportunity for the UK construction industry to showcase its best elements "by undertaking sustainable, energy efficient projects that will provide long-term benefits for local communities and the nation as a whole."
The Association pointed out that individual members of the HVCA/ECA Joint Major Contractors' Group, which comprises the UK's largest mechanical and electrical services contractors, have also signed up.
The Construction Committments document sets out the level of service to which signatories are committed in each of six areas seen as vital to ensure the on-time and on-budget delivery of the Olympics. They are: procurement and integration, committment to people, client leadership, sustainability, design quality and health and safety.
