Construction software provider Redsky in talks with preferred bidder

By John Leitch

Redsky, the IT software group, is in the process of being sold to Explore, a Canadian-based IT group run by Jim McFarlane who started the business up 10 years ago.

Redsky’s employees were told this morning that their company’s owners were in talks with a preferred bidder.

The venture capital backers at Redsky had been searching for an exit for most of the past year.

McFarlane was a contractor and QS prior to his switch into IT. The business has clients in the Canadian contracting sector, offering what one observer described as a “Sage-type” service to smaller customers.

Explore’s operating format is a total contrast to that which exists currently at Redsky, with everyone in the Canadian operation working from home in a “virtual-type” operation. Some are reported to use their garage as their work-base.
