A joint venture of Clugston Construction and Earth Tech has sealed a £26m deal with Waste Recycling Group to design and build two new waste management parks in Central Berkshire.
The deal forms part of a £600m, 25-year Private Finance Initiative (PFI) waste management contract between Reading Borough Council, Bracknell Forest Borough Council, Wokingham District Council and the Waste Recycling Group.
Earth Tech and Clugston will design, build and commission the two waste and recycling centres, in Smallmead and Longshot, which will serve 160,000 households and manage over 200,000 tonnes of household waste each year.
Construction work on the Smallmead scheme will begin in January 2007 and is expected to take two years to complete. Works for the Longshot scheme are due to commence in April 2008 and be complete by the summer of 2009.
