Consultancy group White Young Green (WYG) has bought Malachi Cullen and Partners (MCP) in a deal worth £1m.
MCP is a privately-owned consultancy offering civil and structural engineering services to clients in the central region of Ireland. Its base is in Athlone.
WYG will have to top-up the total purchase price with a further £200,000 if the Irish consultancy performs well during the first year under its new ownership.
In the 12-month financial period to 31 March 2006, MCP's turnover of £1m generated a pre-tax profit of £150,000. WYG said that the profit figure is "as extracted from the financial statements" and after adjustment for exceptional employment costs.
The directors of MCP have signed to say that they will stay on board.
John Purvis, WYG's chief executive, said: "This acquisition is a small, but important step forward in the ongoing development of WYG in Ireland."
