Housing Corporation reveals proposals for National Affordable Housing Programme

The Housing Corporation has set out proposals for the pre-qualification process for entry to the National Affordable Housing Programme this week.

It has also annouced a change, that will see only new bidders having to pass tests for entry. The three tests for new entrants will be based on those used in 2006, focusing on good standing, technical capacity and financial viability.

A spokeswoman for the Housing Corporation said she expected funding for affordable housing to be a priority in the upcoming Comprehensive Spending Review. The £3.9bn investment for 2006-2008 was the body’s biggest to date.

Housing Corporation deputy chief executive Steve Douglas said: "To get anywhere near hitting Barker targets for new supply we must ensure that there is no hiatus in the affordable housing programme."
