All four construction unions - Amicus, GMB, TGWU, and UCATT - are backing a Private Member's Bill which aims to stop the alleged exploitation of agency workers by giving them the same rights as the directly employed on such issues as basic wages and sick and holiday pay.
The draft Temporary Agency Workers (Prevention of Less Favourable Treatment) Bill is being brought before Parliament by Paul Farrelly, Labour MP for Newcasle-under-Lyme. It will require the support of 100 MPs if it is to progress beyond its second reading on 2 March.
