Six contractors are in contention for a £34m community hospital in south Wales. Hoping to make the cut for the Mountain Ash Hospital in the Cynon Valley are Interserve, Norwest Holst, Leadbitter and Sir Robert McAlpine. The identities of the remaining bidders are uncertain, but sources are saying that Willmott Dixon is one likely suspect.
The deal, for the North Glamorgan NHS Trust, includes a 140-bed neighbourhood hospital. When the two-stage tender project first surfaced 18 months ago, it included a primary care centre. But it is understood that this has now been stripped out of the Mountain Ash scheme project and will now be tendered separately, with the Rhondda Cynon Taff NH Trust as the client.
