Building materials

The Times reported Hanson's predictions that it is seeing "tentative signs" of a recovery in demand for building materials in the UK, with the group well-placed to tap into projects relating to the 2012 Olympics.

Windfarms

Britain's biggest off-shore windfarm is set to open by the end of the decade, according to the Financial Times and The Independent. The project will see JV Greater Gabbard (between Ireland's Airtricity and US firm Fluor) will generate around 500MW from a site 12 miles off the coast of Suffolk.

Environment Agency

The Independent and the Financial Times reports that Interserve has sealed a place on the Environment Agency’s £500m framework, tipped first in Contract Journal.

Amec

The Independent, the Daily Mail, the Daily Telegraph and the Financial Times all report on Amec’s decision to sell its 50% stake in Amec Spie.

Carillion

The Times reports that a ban preventing Carillion from bidding for any new rail work has been lifted by Network Rail after the firm improved its safety procedures.
