Taylor Woodrow has confirmed it will stand by its alliance partner NG Bailey, after one of the M&E contractor's workers and several subcontractors wearing the company's vests were filmed performing on-site pranks in a YouTube video.
Taylor Woodrow director Doug Weston told CJ that although the company didn't condone the behaviour, it wanted to work with NG Bailey to put a stop to it.
"We see it as bad for the industry and we would prefer to work with NG Bailey with a view to understanding this behaviour in order to eradicate it," he added.
NG Bailey announced last week that it had identified all the individuals shown in a 'Jackass'-style video, exposed first by Contract Journal (CJ 7 February).
A subcontracting company working for NG Bailey identified a number of individuals who took part in the stunts. NG Bailey would not name the firm involved, but a source close to the investigation revealed it to be Sheffield-based QC Electrical.
Investigations by QC Electrical and NG Bailey are said to be ongoing. However, one worker at QC Electrical has already been suspended. A spokesman for the company confirmed that two others were still on holiday in Jamaica, but were now aware of the situation.
One worker, directly employed by NG Bailey, is also being interviewed and has asked for representation from Amicus. A meeting between the contractors, the workers and an Amicus representative is expected when the QC Electrical workers return.
A spokesman for QC Electrical stressed that if its three workers did turn out to have played a role in the video, the behaviour should not be taken as characteristic of the rest of the firm's employees.
Amicus said the suspended worker, currently in the UK, was strenuously denying any involvement. A spokesman for the union said it would support the workers' case unless hard evidence was produced to prove their involvement.
Meanwhile, the offending YouTube video has been removed. In its place a message said: "This video has been removed due to terms of use violation."
