Nearly a quarter of construction bosses risk fines while driving

By Ross Pearman

Nearly a quarter of construction bosses admit to eating and drinking while driving and using a mobile phone without a hands free kit, according to research from Bibby Financial Services.

The worrying findings follows new legislation, introduced on 27 February, which will see drivers caught using mobiles or eating while driving facing a £60 fine and three points on their driving licence.

The research also found that construction bosses are also putting their licences and finances in jeopardy with 25% confessing to receiving speeding fines, and 31% picking up parking tickets in the last year.

Nearly half (42%) of those questioned have also risked losing business by getting lost trying to reach meeting destinations by not taking the time to plan their journey in advance.
