Baggeridge Brick, the UK's fourth largest brick manufacturer, saw turnover lift in the six months to 31 March to £27m - a rise of £2m.
Pre-tax profit in the six-month period would have more than doubled to £860,000 (£340,000) if Baggeridge hadn't found itself carrying £540,000 of one-off costs resulting from the proposed takeover by Wienerberger.
Chairman Alexander Ward said the result was creditable in the context of the weak market for bricks.
